Collections Manager

Job Summary

The Collections Manager is responsible for leading and managing the collections department to achieve revenue targets and maximize productivity. This role involves overseeing a team of collections officers, maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in collection processes. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a results-oriented approach and a high level of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management
    • Supervise, train, and motivate the Collections Team to achieve set performance targets and service standards.
    • Delegate effectively to ensure balanced workloads and efficient team operations.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement improvement plans where necessary.
    • Foster a positive, accountable, and results-driven work environment.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Manage and maintain effective communication with clients for whom collections are performed.
    • Provide clients with timely reports, updates, and professional advice on collection strategies and performance.
    • Ensure client satisfaction through proactive problem-solving and effective service delivery.
  • Collections Operations & Strategy
    • Oversee large-scale or high-volume collection operations to ensure targets are met.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve collection rates and reduce delinquency.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate management reports.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth coordination and alignment with company objectives.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to all company policies, client requirements, and relevant legal and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance and data protection laws affecting debt collection.
    • Implement and manage controls to mitigate compliance risks within the department.
  • Administrative & Technical Proficiency
    • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) to manage reports, data, and correspondence.
    • Ensure accurate documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of all collection activities.
    • Leverage technology to streamline and improve departmental processes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in debt collection, credit management, or financial services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale or high-level collection operations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and best practices in the collections industry.
