Accounting Assistant
Job Summary
As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial processes. You will be part of a dynamic team where your contributions help us achieve our mission while working in a culture that values service, relationships, and teamwork.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing
- Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions
- Prepare and maintain financial records and reports
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements
- Assist with payroll processing and employee wage calculations
- Maintain and update employee payroll records
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and company policies
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing
- Assist in financial audits and provide necessary documentation
- Handle data entry and maintain accurate accounting databases
- Respond to vendor and employee inquiries regarding payments and payroll
- Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting tasks
- Support the accounting team with administrative tasks as needed
- Maintain general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations
- Assist in preparing tax filings, and other payroll-related documents
- Track and process employee benefits, deductions, and garnishments
- Generate financial reports and summaries for management review
- Monitor and process expense reports in accordance with company policies
- Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures and controls
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll taxes and filings
- Communicate with external vendors, banks, and financial institutions as needed
- Stay updated on changes in accounting and payroll regulations
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to the position from time to time.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Accounting Certification – Level 1 ACCA Technician or equivalent level in Finance / Business
- Must have 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Knowledge in the use of accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working collaboratively towards common goals.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work onsite in Georgetown, Guyana
